The North American net new aluminum mill order index for June lost 0.9% year on year, the Aluminum Association said Monday.
New mill orders were also down 1% from May, the trade group said.
The index for heat-treatable sheet orders increased the most from June 2016 levels at 30.9% and was 1.7% above May.
Orders of non-heat-treatable sheet fell on the year at 3.7%, and were down 1.4% from May.
The June index for plate product orders was down 8.2 from June 2016, and down 9.1% on the month.
Extruded product orders climbed 1.9% from June 2016 but were off 1.2% from last month.
Aluminum foil orders increased 4.1% on the year and 4.4% on the month, while drawing stock orders decreased 14% on the year and 5.5% on the month.
Export can-stock orders were up 1.1% year-on-year, but off 0.5% from May.
The June index for domestic can stock orders was down 6.9% from June 2016 and down 0.9% from last month.
The index is based on reports of new orders, minus cancellations, received by 23 participants for the period, representing 80%-85% of total industry shipments in the US and Canada.
Data in the report is neither seasonally adjusted nor adjusted to account for working days.
