Exports of both thermal and metallurgical coal from Gladstone in Queensland, Australia, totaled 6.27 million in June, up 5.3% year on year and 2.3% from May, and the highest volume so far in 2017, data from Gladstone Ports Corporation showed Thursday.
Gladstone shipped 5.95 million mt in the year-ago period and 6.13 million mt in May.
June exports to Japan fell 15.7% year on year and 31% from May to 1.67 million mt.
Exports to South Korea stood at 830,498 mt, up 19.8% from the year-ago month, but a slump of 25.4% from May, the data showed.
Volumes to China fell 12.8% to 1.11 million mt compared with the year-ago month, but were up 50.6% from May this yer.
Exports to India totaled 1.91 million mt, up 52.7% from May and 33.6% from June 2016, the data showed.
Shipments to Taiwan plunged 19.1% year on year to 168,081 mt, but were up 6.1% from May.
