Exports of rebar in Brazil fell 30.5% in June to a volume of 42,536 mt, trade ministry data showed Thursday.
In June 2016, exports of these goods reached 61,231 mt.
In monetary terms, exports in the month retracted 27.65% to $20.38 million FOB. Last year, the value of exports totaled $28.17 million FOB. Rebar imports, on the contrary, dropped to zero. In June 2016, Brazil imported 2,537 mt, valued at $1.08 million FOB.
Considering the first half of 2017, exports were 263,255 mt, down 13.26% year over year from 303,512 mt. The value of exports retracted 8.55% to $126.97 million FOB from $138.85 million FOB in the same comparison.
For imports, the volume shrank 83.1% to 4,753 in H1 2017 from 28,131 mt in H1 2016. In monetary terms, this reduction represented a drop of 79.7% to $1.98 million FOB from $9.76 million FOB a year ago.
