A problem at Styrolution's Antwerp acrylonitrile butadiene styrene unit has reduced operating capacity, a company source said Wednesday.
The complex has around 260,000 mt/year capacity and approximately 10% of capacity had been compromised by the problem which began last week, the source said.
A bigger line out of several lines at the site experienced a "quality issue", the source said, adding that the company aimed to solve this by the end of this week.
The source said volumes were affected but prices were not, adding that Styrolution is sticking to its initial price offers announced at the start of the month.
Styrolution previously said in a statement on its website it would nominate prices down Eur140/mt in May on falling feedstock costs.
Industry sources said ABS demand remained solid in May.
S&P Global Platts assessed the ABS contract price at Eur1,800/mt FD NWE last Wednesday, down Eur145/mt on the month.
