US service centers shipped 127,500 st of aluminum products in April, slipping 0.4% year on year, Metals Service Center Institute data showed Monday.
Inventories of aluminum products at the end of April stood at 380,300 st, down 1% from end-April 2016.
This represents three months of aluminum inventory at the current shipping rate, flat from a year earlier, MSCI said.
Illinois-based MSCI also said Canadian service centers shipped 9,600 st of aluminum products, excluding extrusions, in April, down 4.3% year on year.
Canadian service center inventories of aluminum products totaled 31,800 st at the end of April, down 4.2% year on year.
At the current shipping rate, Canada's aluminum distributors were carrying 3.3 months of supply in inventory, flat from April 2016.
