Brazilian imports of coke in April more than doubled from the year-ago month to 115,812 mt, Ministry of Trade and Industry data showed Monday.
However, the value of imports increased five times to $36.13 million, the data showed.
Colombia supplied 58% of Brazil's coke imports in April at 66,604 mt while the the total value of imports reached $18.74 million, as the average price reached $281.41/mt, according to ministry data.
China was the second-largest supplier in April at 49,130 mt, while value of imports reached 17.36 million mt at an average price of $353.50/mt.
Sepetiba port in Rio de Janeiro stat, handled 99.7% of the imports last month.
Steelmakers CSN and CSA, and mining company Vale, each operate a private terminal at the state-owned port.
The ministry reported the import values on an FOB-at-origin basis, excluding freight.
