Iran plans to export 25 million mt of petrochemicals by the end of the current Iranian calendar year which will end on March 21, the oil ministry run Shana news agency reported Sunday.
The exports will be up 19% from 21 million mt/year of petrochemicals exported in the previous year, Shana quoted Marziyeh Shahdaei, managing director of National Petrochemical Company as saying at the ongoing 13th Iran Petrochemical Forum in Tehran.
Shana did not provide details on exactly what products that the country plans to export.
Production of petrochemicals in the country has been growing at a rate of 8 million mt/year, Shana quoted the Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh as saying.
Iran needs foreign investments worth $40 billion to complete petrochemical projects under its sixth five-year plan, Shana quoted Zangeneh as saying also at the 13th IPF.
