Argentina exported 43,777 mt of long steel products in 2016, down 10.4% from 48,874 mt imported in 2015, customs agency data showed Wednesday.
Rebar exports in 2016 reached 31,028 mt at an average price of $619/mt FOB, up 0.6% from 30,835 mt in the year-ago at an average price of $620/mt FOB.
Paraguay received 22,226 mt of rebar from Argentina during the period, followed by Bolivia with 8,780 mt.
Argentina's wire rod exports decreased 29.3% to 12,749 mt at an average price of $551/mt FOB. The average price in 2015 was $648/mt FOB, with total exports of 18,039 mt. Of the 2016 total, Paraguay received 6,208 mt, followed by Uruguay with 3,723 mt.
Longs are produced by four companies in Argentina: ArcelorMittal's Acindar unit; Aceros Zapla; Gerdau; and Acerbrag, part of Brazil's Votorantim Group.
