India's state-run Coal India Ltd has clocked an output of 488.06 million mt for April 2016-February 2017, as against the target of 535.38 million mt, the company said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange late Wednesday evening.
However, the output for the 11-month period was up 2% year on year.
Coal India's offtake volume for the same period stood at 490.86 million mt, as against the target of 540.31 million mt.
On a monthly basis, the company produced 54.30 million mt coal in February, as against the targeted 56.81 million mt.
The February output, however, was up 6% year on year.
The February offtake volume stood at 47.73 million mt, against the target of 50.61 million mt.
The company didn't give any reasons for missing the output and offtake targets.
Coal India, which meets over 80% of the country's coal requirement, has a production target of 598 million mt for the ongoing fiscal and it is planning to produce 1 billion mt by 2020.
