Braskem Idesa will implement a $125/mt increase on all polyethylene grades sold in Mexico effective March 1, a source with knowledge of business operations said on Monday.
"We mailed a letter to customers notifying them of the increase," the source said.
Braskem Idesa was heard increasing PE prices $80/mt in February.
The price hike follows Dow's announcement to implement a 6 cents/lb ($132/mt) increase on all polyethylene grades sold in Mexico effective March 1.
Braskem Idesa produces high-density blowmolding and injection PE as well as low-density PE grades.
The announcement is in line with North American suppliers' announcements of 6 cents/lb increases for March, sources said.
S&P Global Platts last assessed low density polyethylene delivered Mexico City at $1,280/mt on February 22, flat week on week, while blowmolding grade was steady at $1,080/mt and injection fell $20/mt to $1,110/mt.
