Venezuela's largest steelmaker, Sidor, expects to deliver its first tinplate shipment shortly, the company said Friday.
A local Venezuelan company, Envases Metalicos de Venezuela, will receive around 1,000 mt of tinplate for the food industry.
The steelmaker did not produce tinplate in 2016, and the product had to be imported that year. It resumed tinplate output in the first days of February and says it has produced more than 2,000 mt since then.
Sidor has installed capacity of 425,000 mt/month, or 5.1 million mt/year, of crude steel. It can produce 2.8 million mt/year of HRC, 1.7 million mt/year of CRC, 390,000 mt/year of rebar and 600,000 mt/year of wire rod. It also produces tubes and semi-finished products.
