US-based Shintech will raise caustic soda prices by $60/dry st, becoming the latest US producer to increase prices, a source with knowledge of company operations said Thursday.
Earlier this month, other producers -- including Formosa Plastics USA, Occidental Chemical, Westlake Chemical and Olin -- announced increases ranging from $60-$85/dst, according to customer notifications obtained by S&P Global Platts and market sources.
The increases had been expected, with market participants pointing to strong demand and continued tightness.
US spot export caustic soda prices were assessed Tuesday at $405-$415/mt FOB USG, up $5 week on week, while domestic spot pricing was assessed at $400-$410/dry st FOB Plant, up $10 week on week.
