Ukrainian manganese ferroalloy production increased by 34.6% year on year to 89,800 mt in January but fell 0.6% from December 2016, UkrFa, an association of Ukrainian ferroalloy producers, said Wednesday.
In January Ukraine produced 66,000 mt of silicomanganese (SiMn), up from 50,100 mt produced in January 2016. Output of ferromanganese (FeMn) increased to 13,900 mt from 7,900 mt and production of ferrosilicon (FeSi) rose to 8,900 mt from 7,900 mt.
Ukraine also produced 1,000 mt of metallic manganese, up 25% on the year, the association said.
Ukraine's biggest ferroalloy smelter, Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant (NFP), produced 65,000 mt of ferroalloy in January, up 30% on the year.
NFP produced 54,800 mt of SiMn in January, up 19.7% from a year earlier, and output of FeMn increased to 10,200 mt from 4,200 mt.
Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant (ZFP), the country's No. 2 ferroalloy producer, increased ferroalloy output by 47.9% to 24,700 mt from 16,700 mt produced in January 2016.
ZFP produced 11,100 mt of SiMn in January, more than double the 4,300 mt produced a year earlier. Output of FeSi rose 12.7% to 8,900 mt, but production of FeMn remained unchanged at 3,700 mt.
ZFP also produced 1,000 mt of metallic manganese in January, up 25% on the year.
In 2016, Ukraine's output of ferroalloy increased by 16% from 2015 to 1.028 million mt.
NFP produced 746,100 mt of ferroalloy in 2016, up 24.1% year-on-year, while ZFP produced 282,100 mt of ferroalloy, down 1.1%.
