Paraguay imported 13,409 mt of its four most demanded flat-rolled steel products in January, an increase of 103.4% from 6,594 mt in the same month a year ago, central bank data showed Tuesday.
Month on month, imports fell 35.2% from December's 20,680 mt.
The four dominant flat products in December were zincalume, hot-rolled coil, cold-rolled coil and plate. The data also showed that Argentina supplied the bulk of these products in January at 10,558 mt, followed by China with 1,677 mt.
HRC was the top flat-rolled import in January, totaling 7,914 mt, valued at $3.93 million FOB, or an average of $496.90/mt.
The country's CRC imports in the first month this year totaled 2,872 mt valued at $1.68 million FOB, or $584/mt.
Zincalume was the third-largest flat product imported in January at 2,293 mt, shipped at a value of $1.49 million FOB, or an average of $650/mt.
January's total plate imports reached 330 mt, valued at $159,719 FOB, or an average of $484.20/mt.
