North Africa, facing a cut in propylene from the UAE after a refinery fire, has sought supply elsewhere, with cargoes fixed to leave Europe in recent weeks, sources said Friday.
Abu Dhabi's Takreer refinery, which typically supplies the North African region, was restarting in the second half of January following a fire which broke out January 11 at a naphtha-processing unit, reducing production from the 840,000 b/d Ruwais complex by half.
Parent company ADNOC said January 20 that commercial production was expected shortly as it was restarting, confirming that gasoline and propylene production has been affected by the fire.
ADNOC also said at the time it had been supplying products to customers from refinery capacity that had remained online and other sources.
ADNOC was not available for comment Friday.
Prices in Northwest Europe were last assessed Thursday at Eur782.5/mt [$841/mt] FD NWE.
