Monthly US production of biodiesel slid 1 million gallons lower to 142 million gallons in November, with 67% of production coming from the Midwest region, a percentage point lower from October, Energy Information Administration data showed Tuesday.

Of the 1.018 billion lb of feedstocks used to produce biodiesel in November, 51.6% of product was soybean oil, up by more than 4 percentage points from October, the EIA said.

Soybean oil remained the largest biodiesel feedstock, with 596 million lb consumed, the EIA said in its latest monthly biodiesel production report.

The next three largest biodiesel feedstocks were corn oil (136 million lb), yellow grease (118 million lb), and canola oil (98 million lb), according to the EIA.

Producer sales of biodiesel during June included 74 million gallons sold as B100 (100% biodiesel) and an additional 62 million gallons of B100 sold in biodiesel blends with diesel fuel derived from petroleum, the EIA said.

Production came from 97 biodiesel plants with an annual production capacity of 2.3 billion gal/year, according to the EIA.
