Dow Chemical will increase its prices for US isopropyl alcohol and butyl acetate for February, the company said in a letter to customers.
For IPA, it will boost prices by 7 cents/lb effective February 1 or as contracts allow, according to the letter seen by S&P Global Platts on Wednesday. For BUTAC, it plans a 5-cent hike.
The letter did not cite a specific reason for the increases.
Eastman Chemical announced a planned February increase of 6 cents/lb for BUTAC, Platts reported previously.
Platts last assessed BUTAC on Tuesday at 54.50-55.50 cents/lb ($1,202-$1,224/mt) FOB USG and 58.50-59.50 cents/lb ($1,290-$1,312/mt) delivered.
US IPA was assessed Tuesday at 49.50-50.50 cents/lb ($1,091-$1,113/mt) FOB USG and 51.50-52.50 cents/lb ($1,135-$1,157 /mt) DER.
Nominations for higher feedstock contract pricing led to expectations for increase announcements in IPA, sources said this week.
Initial nominations for January CPs for feedstock propylene come at an increase of 10 cents/lb, sources in that market said. IPA pricing typically lags the movement in CGP contracts.
