Mexican integrated steelmaker Ahmsa produced 4.65 million mt of crude steel in 2016, the company said Wednesday.
The volume is a record high, above the previous high of 4.46 million mt registered in 2015.
"The volume reflects the greater capacity achieved with the full operation of the new units included in the Fenix Project, which ... was to maximize installed capacity and generate a greater variety of value-added steels," Ahmsa said in a statement sent to the Mexican stock market Wednesday.
Ahmsa's steelmaking complex is in Moncova, in the northern state of Coahuila. It produces mainly hot- and cold-rolled coil, plate, tinplate, and structural and heavy profiles.
