Turkmenistan has halted gas supplies to petrochemical plants in northern Iran because of a long-running dispute over arrears, the Iranian oil ministry-run Shana news agency reported.
The petrochemical facilities are currently being supplied feed gas by National Iranian Gas Company, Shana said, adding they were operating at minimal run rates as pressure in the national gas distribution grid has dropped because of additional demand.
Shana did not specify the names of companies affected as a result of disruption in supplies from Turkmenistan. While Iran needs about 700 million cu m/day of gas, Turkmenistan supplies about 10 million cu m/d and only to northern provinces.
