European ferrovanadium prices narrowed over the week with no reports of deals below $23/kg.
"Material is tight and traders are coming in for units," one European trader said. Others agreed it was difficult to find sellers.
While there was talk of prices close to $24/kg there were no deals reported. "People are offering higher but you can't find a buyer," a second European trader said.
Market sources were tentatively confident of firming prices through to January but noted offers from China were still above $25/kg indicating no desire to sell into Europe.
Platts assessed its weekly European ferrovanadium price on Thursday at $23.20-$23.50/kg from $22.70/kg-23.50/kg.
