Molybdenum oxide spot prices came off Monday as market participants described activity as deadly quiet.
The S&P Global Platts daily dealer oxide assessment was $6.65-$6.75/lb Monday, down from $6.65-$6.80/lb as a deal was reported in Rotterdam at $6.65/lb.
"I didn't get any powder inquiries today. I had one person call to fish for FeMo prices and that's it," a seller source said.
A European trader said he was waiting to see when purchasing for January would start as he had not seen the volume of activity expected for this time of the year.
Others said the high end of the quotation range was gone and they were no longer hearing $6.80/lb offered.
In Asia, sources agreed the spot market was severely lacking and they were not seeing many sales or inquiries.
The Platts daily European ferromolybdenum assessment was unchanged at $16.90-$17.10/kg.
