Coal exports from Australia's North Queensland were little changed year on year or month on month in November, as an uptick in shipments from the Hay Point Coal Terminal offset a decline from the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, the North Queensland Bulk Ports Corp, or NBPQ, said Wednesday.
The terminals, which include Hay Point Coal Terminal, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and Abbot Point Coal Terminal, saw a combined shipment of 11.55 million mt of coal in November, down 1% from the 11.66 million mt shipped in November 2015, and up 1% from 11.49 million mt in October, NQBP data showed.
Exports from BMA's 55 million mt/year capacity Hay Point Coal Terminal rose 8% year on year from 4.01 million mt in November 2015 to 4.32 million mt in November this year. The volume was up by 15% from the previous month's 3.76 million mt, the data showed.
That came in contrast to exports from the 85 million mt/year capacity Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, which fell to a seven-month low of 5.11 million mt -- down 8% from 5.55 million mt in November 2015, and down 6% from October this year, NQBP said.
The Adani-Group owned 50 million mt/year capacity Abbot Point Coal Terminal's November shipment was 2.12 million mt, which was up by 1% from the 2.10 million mt sent in November last year and down 7% from 2.27 million mt in October this year, the corporation said.
Over January-November, the three terminals shipped a total 131.25 million mt, which translates to an annualized rate of 143.43 million mt/year against their combined nameplate capacity of 190 million mt, the data showed.
