Pemex's ethylene production totaled 64,896 mt in October, up 12% from September, the Mexican state company said Monday. Production increased 16% compared with October 2015, when the company's ethylene output totaled 55,856 mt, it said.
Higher feedstock availability was heard to be helping supporting the production output.
Pemex uses the majority of its monomer output for the production of downstream derivatives, including polyethylene grades.
Pemex's propylene output totaled 1,145 mt in October, up 15% from September, it said. The company's output jumped 29% compared with October 2015, when production totaled 888 mt.
October's propylene production level was the third highest output so far in 2016.
Pemex sells its production of the monomer to downstream derivatives producers. Pemex is not currently producing acrylonitrile.
