Sinopec is expected to put on stream a new 3-mil-mt/yr crude distillation unit at its underlying Ji'nan Refinery in January-February 2012, a source with the refinery said.
Construction of the unit started in 2010 after a 1.4-mil-mt/yr CDU at the refinery was eliminated.
To improve its product qualities, Ji'nan Refinery plans to put a 1.6-mil-mt/yr gasoil hydrotreating unit into operation this September. It will also build a 600,000-mt/yr continuous reformer within 2012 and close the existing 300,000-mt/yr one then.
In addition, Ji'nan Refinery plans to build a 1.2-mil-mt/yr vacuum gasoil (VGO) hydrocracker, a 1.2-mil-mt/yr catalytic reformer, a 1.6-mil-mt/yr coking unit and a 20,000Nm3/h hydrogen unit during 2011-2015.
Ji'nan Refinery, located in Ji'nan City in Shandong Province, has a topping capacity of 5-mil mt per year currently. It mainly processes domestic Shengli crude and foreign grades imported via Huangdao port.
