Colombian output of gold and silver declined in the third quarter from a year ago, while platinum and coal production gained, the government said Wednesday.
Gold output fell 13% year on year to 467,768 oz, from 538,123 oz a year earlier, while silver dropped 21.2 to 77,164 oz from 97,980 oz, the National Mining Agency said in a statement. Platinum rose 29.4% to 8,934 oz from 6,904 oz a year ago.
Nickel output was little changed at 19.17 million lb at the Cerro Matoso mine, owned by BHP Billiton spinoff South32, from 19.6 million lb a year earlier.
Colombia's coal output increased by 17% to 23.4 million mt in the quarter from 19.9 million mt a year earlier, the agency said. Colombia is Latin America's largest coal producer.
