Oil prices rise as US crude stockpiles decline

Oil prices climbed on Thursday as government data showed a surprise weekly drawdown in US crude inventories.

The West Texas Intermediate for November delivery added 61 US cents to settle at 50.44 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude for December delivery gained 65 cents to close at 52.51 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
