Average retail prices of gasoline and diesel in the UK fell in the week ending Monday, data released Tuesday by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy showed.
In the week ending Monday, the average UK pump price for unleaded gasoline (ULSP) was 109.28 pence/liter, down 0.47 p/liter week on week. This was the fourth consecutive weekly fall in retail gasoline prices.
Meanwhile, the average price of diesel (ULSD) dropped by 0.38 p/liter to 111.02 p/liter compared with the previous week, its fifth weekly decline.
Prices at the pump are now the lowest since the end of May and beginning of June, according to the data.
Prices of ULSP are now 5.3 p/liter lower, with ULSD 1.03 p/liter lower than the equivalent week in 2015.
Falling retail road transport fuel prices have been hastened by competitive moves in the supermarket sector which has been the most proactive in passing on wholesale savings, drawing praise from motoring groups.
