The Colonial Pipeline has eliminated the 57th shipping cycle in 2016 on its distillate-only Line 2, the company said Friday in a notice to shippers.
The company said the dropped cycle will not impact Colonial's typical five-day deliveries, and there will be no need to nominate barrels in excess of what would have otherwise been nominated for cycles.
The gasoline-only Line 1 is not impacted by the elimination on Line 2.
"These steps are being taken to better align the lifting schedules of distillates with Colonial's shipping calendar," Colonial said in the notice.
Colonial typically eliminates two shipping cycles each year when liftings fall behind schedule because of strong demand. This year Line 2 cycles have frequently scheduled after the end of the month, with the 42nd cycle scheduling in August for jet, ULSD and heating oil.
Colonial ships in 72 five-day cycles throughout the year, restarting with the first cycle in mid- to late December.
Colonial ships 1.37 million b/d on Line 1 for gasoline and 1.16 million b/d for distillates on Line 2 from the US Gulf Coast states to Greensboro, North Carolina, where they link up into multi-product Line 3 to Linden, New Jersey. It also has numerous spur lines to other cities, such as Nashville, Tennessee.
