US petcoke exports totaled 3.6 million mt in May, up 6.2% from April and up 26.7% from the year-ago month, US Census Bureau data showed Wednesday.
India accounted for roughly 30% of total US exports during the month, mostly from the US Gulf Coast.
Petcoke exports to India totaled 1.1 million mt, up nearly 30% from April and more than doubling May 2015.
Exports to China totaled 369,610, up 18% from the year-ago month, but down 10.5% from April.
Turkey and Spain imported 201,858 mt and 298,095 mt, respectively, of US petcoke in May, while Turkey dropped its imports by 36.3% and Spain increased its imports more than threefold.
Exports to Mexico totaled 178,140 mt, down 44% from April, while exports to Japan totaled 120,986 mt, up 142%.
