A Japanese consumer has agreed with a global producer on a premium of $110/mt plus LME cash CIF Japan for primary aluminum billet for the third quarter, a consumer source said Monday.
The settlement is for aluminum billet of a volume not higher than 1,000 mt/month, for July to September.
The producer could not be reached for confirmation.
Three producers and around 15 Japanese companies are currently negotiating premiums for primary aluminum contracts for Q3.
Q2 premiums were $115-$118/mt plus LME cash CIF Japan for value added products such as billet, while those of ingot were $115-$117/mt plus LME cash, CIF Japan.
Platts does not take into account billet and other value added products for the quarterly contract premium assessment.
