Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical plans to process 880,000mt of crude in August, with daily throughput down by 7.4% from July, a source with the refinery said.
The decline was mainly due to a once-every-four-year turnaround of an 840,000-mt/yr ethylene cracker and its affiliated units, expected to occur during Aug 15 and Sep 20, according to the source.
Yanshan Petrochemical is a major petrochemical complex in North China with crude processing capacity hitting 13.5-mil mt per year. However, a 2.5-mil-mt/yr crude distillate unit at the refinery has been idled since June 2007. Yanshan Petrochemical mainly supplies its oil products to the local market. It is capable of producing Europe IV oil products.
