SSAB Americas announced on Friday it would be increasing plate prices for its customers by a minimum of $40/st for all new non-contract orders and for all existing non-contract orders acknowledged for shipment the week of July 3 and beyond.
The increase applies for as-rolled mill plate, cut-to-length plate and hot-rolled coil greater than 72 inch wide, as well as normalized and quenched and tempered plate.
S&P Global Platts assessed A36 plate at $630-$650/st ex-works Southeast US Thursday.
SSAB became the second plate producer this week to announce a price increase with Nucor moving up $40/st on Wednesday.
